Article: Effects of ethanol (alcohol) on learning and memory (neuroplasticity)

\"neuroplasticity\"

Article link:  Acute and chronic effects of ethanol on learning-related synaptic plasticity article

So this article is pretty heavy in scientific jargon, but you can scroll down to the summary/ discussion to get a brief insight into how ethanol or alcohol impairs plasticity or the brain\’s ability to learn and make memories (acute or short-term ability).  It pretty much concludes that large intakes of ethanol effect all types of neurons and neural receptors, excitatory and inhibitory.  This causes a whole host of neural issues including anxiety disorders, alcohol induced blackouts, as well as, short and long-term mental illness.  It seems pretty obvious just from my own use of alcohol that these effects occur, but it\’s interesting to read the scientific evidence behind it.  Hope you didn\’t over-do-it like I did this weekend, and if you did maybe a little rest is in order.  Enjoy reading, and be aware and eat with care 🙂
